This piece is from my recent Geode Series, which was inspired by the crystals and mineral specimens my husband (a jewelry designer) and I collect. To create 'geodes' which appear to float on the canvas, I developed a time-intensive layering process of mixing mediums with iridescent and metallic paints. The result is a crystal-like texture that reflects flashes of light, even changes in color.
ldness. Translucent and iridescent but with an almost inexplicable solidity and depth, the geometric yet random patterns are a study in contrasts. Calling upon her preferred palette of neutrals and pastels, Jill blurs the lines between abstraction and realism, effervescence and solidity. Where some see stones, others see bubbles. Either way, viewers are enthralled by the tranquil elegance of these pieces and charmed by their mesmerizing beauty.
