This is based on a photo I took on my farm. I caught the late afternoon light of a favorite scene with a telephoto lens. The gate and the horse are the focal point. This gate is styled after Japanese Shinto Shrine gates which my wife saw on her visit to japan in her early years. The gate is special in that we see it from our kitchen window and often pass through it to visit the pond and horse. My wife insisted the gate must be natural weather wood. However, I finally got to make it red in the painting - as I always wished it to be.
